There really are no "set in stone" rules as to what sex you should get. When you add a new cat to your family, choose a reputable shelter or visit a pet store who has an adoption center like PetsMart. A good adoption counsellor will ask you many questions about your lifestyle and the personality of the cat you already have. These counsellors know their cats and will be able to match you with the best fit. Keep an open mind and do NOT "impulse adopt" based on color, size or sex. Ask the shelter staff to advise you on how to intro the 2 cats and follow their directions.
