Why is my cat more affectionate to my guests than to me?

My cat is a year old. She is an indoors cat and I am the sole person in the home with her. When she was young she would sit on my lap, purr and lick my fingers, and generally was very affectionate. As she got older, she began to just want to play with me. Her affection stopped and now if I go to pet her, all she seems to want to do is play, and in doing so, always wants to bite at my fingers. When my guests come over, she is gentle and affectionate to them. I have never played "rough" with her, so I don't understand this at all.
