My lovely humans spent a long time trying to find a name for me...they were almost settled on Isis...it was Egypt week on the discovery channel and thought it might be cool for me to have an Egyptian name...but it just didn't seem to fit me. They decided to look in an online thesaurus for words that represented aspects of me...and since my tortie fur almost looks like planets and stars in outer space, they settled on the name Nebula...I rather like it. It's pretty, mysterious and playful...just like me.

I used to be called Sweet William at the shelter before I was adopted...my humans knew they were going to rename me before we even left the place...and I was fine with that. They thought about Gator, because of my big teeth and green eyes...then they thought about Oberon, because I proved to be somewhat mischevious... They settled on Congo because I walk and talk like a jungle cat...and I have SPOTS!! I like my new name almost as much as I like my new human parents. And I like them a LOT!!! :)

I got my name because my mommy was obsessed with The Lion King at the time. I'm orange, so what better name than Simba!

I also got my name from The Lion King, like my father, Simba. I resemble Kovu from The Lion King II, so that's how I got my name!

I got my name because of my odd coat. Venus is the Roman god of love and beauty, so that's where it came from. No one ever calls me Venus though. Everyone calls me Vee Vee!

I got my name because a classmate of my mommy's was leaving and she always thought his last name was really odd, so she named me Jake!

Yes, yes, crystals are clear. The next closest thing is white though, and since I have a white coat, there you have it!

My name was literally random. My mommy wanted a name that started with P, so I got my name!

Like Patricia, my name was random. Chris just sounded good, so it became my name.

I was named Imhotep because my Mommy loves Ancient Egypt! Plus my name means "he who comes in peace." and my Mommy thought that was very appropriate for me! :)

People ask me all the time if I am named after the rapper Eminem or the porn star, Slim Shadey! NO NO NO! Mommy named me because she says it looks like some took a pencil and "shaded" me in. :)

I was named after Mommy's first Cleopatra kitty who died exactly 1 month before I was born. Mommy says her and I are a LOT alike.

I got my name because my mommy wanted to name me something that had to do with my color. Mommy wanted to name me Ebony but daddy didn't like that. Finally mommy and daddy decided on Shadow. It took three whole weeks! Silly mommy and daddy!

My daddy wanted to name me Paul... but, when my mommy saw how mischievous I was she named me Misterchevious because Mischevious had to be a girls name....

Well...I didn't answer this post for a while, because I have no interseting story behind my name. Mommy just wanted something cute that went well with "Roxanne". Then a friend told her Zoe means "life" in Greek....yeah, that's me all right!!

I got my name as I only have three legs due to an altercation with a fan in a car engine. Mom wanted me to have a dignified name so I would feel good about myself. "Tri" means three and "Tripod" seemed too mean - so I'm Triston.

I was rescued from the engine of a car in the middle of the night by my Mom and some firefighters. I was okay - I didn't get hurt. I was a little grease and oil covered 6 week old feral kitten. The car was a Chevrolet Sprint - I was kind of re-born when I was saved so I was named Sprint. It's a good name as it's unique and I am faster than anyone at our place.

My brother Darius was named after King Darius in the Bible, the king who authorized the prophet Daniel to go into the lion's pit and then authorized him out of there. Mom said she wanted a regal name for him because he looks regal.....I say it was to make up for his crossed eyes *snicker* I was given an Arabic name and mom is no longer sure what it means. It means either "good friend" or "boss." Mom said that my breeder wanted me to have a name before I went home with mom so she gave me this long weird name *shrug*

Mama named me after my Aunty Sara! Sara was a wonderful artist and animal activist... unfortunately, she had a disease known as Cystic Fibrosis. She'd gotten a double lung transplant, but rejection took her away at the mere age of 24 moneky-years, making my mummy very very sad. Sara loved fantasy and science fiction and called herself Peregrin at conventions. I am named after a wonderful talented lady who lived every day to the fullest, and mama tells me that I seem to have the loving and fiesty spirit of my Aunty... and I agree!

My mama started a joke along time ago, something about Melba Cheese or something like that. When my auntie brought home my first cousin, mama wanted to name him Melby, but they didn't like it, so when she finally got me I got the name Melby. It's pretty cool though, people say it's different, and I'm sure a different boy!

Well- don't laugh but my name was almost Virgil....yuck! Anyway the worker-human brought me home from the shelter right before Labor Day and still didn't have a name for me (I made it clear that Virgil was not going to fly). The US Open was on TV and there running around the court in his white shorts was...Patrick Rafter (aka Patrick Rafter Tennis God) who went on to win that year. Anyway the moms was watching Mr. Rafter and thinking about how good he looked in his shorts and then I jumped on her lap and she thought about how good I looked in my orange fur and.......... all of a sudden become Patrick! I like to think I helped Mr. Rafter win the tournament by bringing him luck :0)

My Mommy takes my Daddy 170+ miles to a resturant called Klementine's for his B-Day. I hear it is the best resturant ever! My Daddy always wanted an orange cat. These 2 things add up to how I got my name. when I was 4 weeks old I was left on a doorstep, then rushed to the vets in a box. My Mommy was working at the vets and looked into my cage to see a dirty little orange kitten in a box that said "Klementine oranges". I needed to be fed every 4 hours so Mommy took me home where Daddy fell in love with me and named me Klementine.

My Daddy rescued me as a wee kitten from a lumber yard. Daddy didn't want to keep me, he just wanted to get me healthy so I could move on to a new home. Daddy tried to detach himself from me,(which wasn't easy when he was feeding me with an eye dropper every few hours and I was such a good kitten) so he didn't want to give me a name, so he called me Kitty. 12 years later me & my Daddy have a very special bond, and I am still his Kitty. I love my Daddy!

For some reason, every black cat The Big Man's family has ever owned was called Nicodemus...boy or girl, didn't matter. Nikki (Nicodemus VII, a girl) died a pretty horrible, sad death when she was still very young. It was crushing for TBM's family. So, as soon as he saw me, he knew my name. Nicodemus the VIII. :oD The Big Lady calls me Nico, tho...I like that.

I guess my daddy always gets to name the animals in our house! Anyway...I was named Calleigh after Calleigh Ducane from CSI Miami. CSI Miami is one of Mommy and Daddy's favorite shows, and it's ALWAYS shot with an orange gel on the camera lense to make it look hot and sexy. (Just like me, right? ;o) Calleigh Ducane is Daddy's favorite female character on the show...so Calleigh it was! Mommy wanted to name me Piper after her favorite witch on Charmed.

Well my first owner had named my Purr but my momma didn't like it so, she changed it to Inka Purr. Inka because I pure black and a female. Purr because she wanted me to keep My idenity. My brother was named tuxedo because he looks like one.
