Dear Catster reader,

Almost two years ago, we invested numerous resources and rebuilt the Catster community. With new hardware, software and personnel, we did our best to satisfy the many users who shared their thoughts, pictures, questions, and love for and of their pets with us and friends. It was a thriving community with many users. We hoped, however, there would be more like you.

Times and habits have changed and we are sad to announce that the Catster community will be closing down on July 20, 2019.

Catster magazine, www.catster.com and the associated social media sites are NOT shutting down. We encourage you to continue reading the content found in the pages of the magazine and the web sites, commenting through the mechanisms provided and sharing your ideas and comments with us and your fellow readers.

Instructions for accessing pet profiles were shared with everyone in 2017. The instructions can be found elsewhere within the forum. AFTER JULY 20TH, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ACCESS THIS CONTENT. And, effective immediately, we are no longer able to answer questions about the community.

Thank you for your support and we look forward to serving you through our magazine and website.

Cheers,
Catster

URGENT! Cat abuse video on YouTube.com

I was searching for funny kitty videos last night on YouTube and came across one labeled as "Singing Cat". It was basically someone pushing their cat into the ground so hard that it screamed. Then when the cat was quiet this "person" would hit it over and over in the head. I reported the video as graphic violence but I see it is still up there this morning. You can find it by typing in "singing cat" in the search button. The "person" who uploaded it name is spiderhog73 and I think he calls it "My cat singing 4 American Idol" What can I do about this? I reported it and it's still there!! I couldnt sleep last night thinking about this poor cat and all the kids who may watch this and imitate this behavior. PLEASE HELP! Maybe go and report it too??

Oh that was just sick and awful. What a terrible person. I have membership of You Tube and I've flagged the video and posted a comment. I have also sent a message to this person telling him what I think of him. :(( Poor kitty - I hope he or she is ok. :(( Leida.

This needs to be removed from You Tube. Anyone could stumble across such an awful thing. We need as many cats as possible to go to the video and flag it as inappropiate. HERE IS THE VIDEO Pass the information onto your groups and get as many members as you can to flag this video. That\'s what I\'m going to do. Come on cats - let\'s show some feline power here. Leida.

Leida, Thanks for posting a direct link to it, I don't know how to do that. That should help people find it easier to help report it. I also let the good folks at dogster know about it too so they can help shut this video down. I really want to go save that kitty. I want that kid put in jail. I didnt, couldnt, watch the whole thing and apparently the video got worse at the end. This makes me cry... I can't imagine.

Nikki, that was horrible. We flagged it as well as leaving that guy a nasty message. He is a 16 year old boy. This is abuse and he needs help before he starts abusing people too. Poor kitty.

Momma sent a link directly to the ASPCA in New York City. She looked at the posters location and it says he is in Harlem. Hopefully they can track this sick person down and save this cat. Where are his parents? Abuse breeds abuse this kid needs serious mental help.

That is horrible!!!! What a sick human being. As soon as Mom gets home from work we are having her flag that video and leave a message. This is the way criminals get their start. Hurting those they feel they can dominate. Then they move on to other humans. I sure hope someone is able to find out who this is and do something about it. At the very least, get that poor kitty out of that house!!!

Horrible...sickening....we couldn't watch all of it because the screams of that poor cat were so disturbing. We flagged it and wrote a nasty comment as well. I'm so glad someone reported this to the NY ASPCA. This person needs to be stopped and that cat needs a loving home.

This is a disturbing cry for help. I tried to go to his myspace page to plead with him to find the cat a new home but something went wrong.. I just heard music. Thanks for forewarding it to the ASPCA of NY. I hope he gets on that animal cops show! I wish I could have that kitty! I would love him/her and spoil him/her.

My worry is that You Tube will pull the video before the ASPCA can see it, or use it for evidence. :( It's murder to try and contact You Tube, I've been trying for ages. If necessary, this thread can by linked to the ASPCA. I'll add details of the kid's You Tube Account here for the record - see my next post. Leida.

It was posted there on December 11th. That poor kitty! You Tube say that flagged videos will be observed by their staff. The reason we need to flag this as much as possible is to make sure that You Tube realise how strongly we feel about this. Please visit the site and flag the video. Leida.

Mom only joined the YouTube so she could post the comment of how angry she was to see it. From what she seen in the comments, one guy threatened to hunt him down and that would be nice. This person is going to get a taste of abuse theirselves, hopefully.

Yea, I agree with all of you. This creep needs to be taken down. I feel so sorry for the kitty...I mean he is so defenseless against a stupid human! I also reported it to the ASPCA in NY. I also reported it to youtube as graphic video. AND I also sent an e-mail to the Manhattan police department. I included the links to the video, his profile page on youtube AND he has a profile on MySpace and I included that as well! Between that and all of you....maybe we can save the kitty! This is a 16 year old punk who obviously enjoys hurting animals. It just makes me soooo mad!!! Thanks for posting this video link on here so we can help save the kitty and put this jerk in jail! Hailey\'s meowmy:((

Our Mom flagged it and left a couple of comments. Can you believe that the person who made this video is only 16 years old? Amazing. We can only hope that the appropriate people see it and that they follow it through to getting this person the serious help that he nees. We cannot believe that Youtube allowed it to be even be submitted.

A doggie in one of my groups said that they went to the NYC police dept web site and filed a complaint against the person who posted the video and also against YouTube for not removing it. I had no idea you could do that online!

I can't bring myself to watch the video. I would flag it if I could bring myself to click on the link, but I just can't. Watching the cat in the pet washing machine thing was bad enough--I just don't think I could handle watching this one. That sick boy needs help, and the cat needs help too. The poor kitty needs to be rehomed and matched with a family who will love and care for him or her, not torture the poor thing. I hope the many complaints you pawsome kitties filed lead to an investigation against this sick, twisted boy and a happy, new beginning for the kitty. ETA: You know, I think the main reason I can't watch it now is because I am in Florida away from my kitties. I'm visiting relatives and my kitties are back home in Georgia. I just can't watch this without being able to hug my kitties. I'll try to watch it Sunday when I get home so I can flag/report it if it is still up (hopefully it will be taken down by then). I know that seems silly; but I miss my kitties enough as it is and seeing the one on youtube suffer needlessly will just make me want to be with my furbabies so much more. I'll be tempted to cut my trip short and I just got here not too many hours ago! I'm glad the link to the video is posted on Dogster too. I truly hope something will be done about this--not just taking the video down either. I hope this boy is caught and pays the consequences for his cruel actions.

Can anyone cross post this to Dogster??? Maybe if they get enough complaints they will take it down. It sounds like a couple of dogs are already on it.
