Hello! We will be bringing home a new kitten this weekend. He was a throwaway and is recovering from a nasty infection or cold at the vet's office right now. He's very thin ... what do you think a good food to try him on would be? We'll ask the vet but in case they just say plain ole kitten food, we wanted ideas. Thanks!

I suggest a premium quality food, both canned and dry, to help the kitten grow better. There are many good premium foods to choose from, such as Innova EVO, Wellness, By Nature, and Nature's Variety.

You'll want to talk to the vet about this but I would actually see about starting the little one off on kitten formula. If he's malnourished or actually been starving then starting him off on solid food could do his poor system more harm then good. When I first got Wyll he was too young for solid food, so I had to bottle feed him, my Vet suggested looking into organic baby food to transition him between a liquid and solid diet. You might want to look into that as an option.

A "throwaway?" :(( How sad! Poor baby! What a wonderful mom you have Maggie... to take in and give a new baby a home! If your new brother/sister is really little... you could try KMR (kitten milk replacer). My mommy gave that to me when she first brought me home..... it has lots of stuff little ones need to grow and thrive. Best of luck to you and your new addition! |:|
