my cat Jackie has always been a healthy cat..until one day he started to lose his appetite, and started to lose weight. We sent him to the clinic and it turned out that he had plaques on his teeth and his throat was inflamed.. so the vet said he had to pull his teeth out... but then, he still couldn't eat much...and weeks later, he started to lose a lot of his fur especially at the back and on his tail.. seriously i don't know what's wrong with him, but it seems like his teeth isn't being very nice to him..... does anyone hv an opinion on what's wrong with jack? even the vet doesn't know...;(

Can you take him to a cat specialist? (feline practitioner) that's what I do when a regular vet doesn't know what is wrong. You can find feline practitioners in your state here http://www.aafponline.org Good luck and keep us posted

Did your vet do blood and/or urine tests? Hyperthyroidism or kidney problems could lead to losing weight. We are purring for you over here. Keep us posted please!

Jack needs to have a full blood panel run if it hasn\'t been done already. Usually those tests will turn up something, but if they don\'t, I agree to find a specialist if you can. I\'m no vet, but it does sound like either thyroid or kidneys could be the problem. Those are very common in kitties and Jack has some of the main symptoms. Good luck and please keep us posted on your findings. We\'re purring for you. Another Jack!!

Does your kitty have fleas? Some kitties can be extremely allergic to fleas and flea eggs, causing them to lose fur and make them sick. Has your vet thought of this as a possibility?
