Dear Catster reader,

Almost two years ago, we invested numerous resources and rebuilt the Catster community. With new hardware, software and personnel, we did our best to satisfy the many users who shared their thoughts, pictures, questions, and love for and of their pets with us and friends. It was a thriving community with many users. We hoped, however, there would be more like you.

Times and habits have changed and we are sad to announce that the Catster community will be closing down on July 20, 2019.

Catster magazine, and the associated social media sites are NOT shutting down. We encourage you to continue reading the content found in the pages of the magazine and the web sites, commenting through the mechanisms provided and sharing your ideas and comments with us and your fellow readers.

Instructions for accessing pet profiles were shared with everyone in 2017. The instructions can be found elsewhere within the forum. AFTER JULY 20TH, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ACCESS THIS CONTENT. And, effective immediately, we are no longer able to answer questions about the community.

Thank you for your support and we look forward to serving you through our magazine and website.

We\'re not going to buy any thing manufactured or associated with funding China,so we\'re looking for a new cat food which resources and factory has nothing at all to do with China.I want to use this as an excuse to get off of Purina and onto a higher quality food, even if it\'s manufactured in the US. What are some good American-made foods for a 10 year old female cat,a overweight 5-year-old male with a heart murmur, and two 3-year-old frisky males?I currently free-feed them, but I could possibly have a feeding schedule. Also, can they be found in chain stores like Petco? Squeaks, Tiger

Innova, Merrick and Wellness all make their dry food in their own facilities in the US. Merrick also manufactures it's canned food, and Innova is building their own canning facility. Orijen and Go! Natural are both Canadian made foods. Orijen also uses all Canadian grown/raised ingredients (which I LOVE). Good luck on your search :)

Felidae is another made/sourced in the USA food - we love the dry chicken and rice formula!

I believe Newman's Own Organics is made in America too. However just because something says made in America doesn't mean they dont import ingredients from other countries also American Beef has been questionable for some time - reports of mad cow disease - so this isnt a cureall. I would recommend Organics food or high quality food as the safest best

Newmans own is a really grainy food with tons of soy, soy is no good for cats.
