Food for Pancreatitis?

Mommy works for a vet, and we no longer use/recommend the icky prescription diets, anyways we have a kitty who has Pancreatitis right now and our research is showing avoid carbohydrates for pancreatitis, other shows that low fat high carb, but we know cats don't do well on carbs. Anyways is there a recommendation for a good quality food for someone on a 'fixed' income for a cat with pancreatitis canned and/or dry although we are going to try to convince her to feed canned. Thanks in advance. Oh almost forgot, kitty is 16 years old, and otherwise healthy.

Hi, there -- Coop's MOm here. My bridge baby, Felix, had pancreatitis, and our vet put him on a diet of venison and pea food. I forget the brand name, but that was to keep everything in check with the pancreatitis. Hope this helps! Coop's Mom

I mentioned this in your other post, but this book "Your cat" would be really beneficial to you, it has a section in there about Pancreatitis too. You want (Wet food, high protein, low carbs) High carbs will only assault the pancreas more.

Hi Coopurr! :-h We're guessing the venison/green pea was Natural Balance? They make a good limited ingredient line.
