Is homecooked food safer for cats than raw? Or is cooked food less natural?

The problem with cooking is that it removes some of the nutrients and it's hard to know for sure which ones and how much. I think the general consensus is that we know cats thrive on food they catch themselves (uncooked) - why not replicate that as close as we can for a housecat?
