    The best "diet food" is either canned or raw food, not icky kibble. Read this for how to help a cat safely lose weight: http://catinfo.org/?link=felineobesity Another part of that site explains why dry food causes obesity and other health problems in cats.

    Believe it or not, hit up the raw food forum. That will be your best and most economic way to get your cat back into a healthy weight/ body

    Cats are obligate carnivores and the only grains and veggies they should be getting are from their prey when they eat it, which is pre-digested grains. Grains are nothing but carbohydrates which is pure sugar. All these grains in cat food are causing an explosion of diabetes, pancreatitis, liver disease, IBD, etc. The best diet is a good quality protein, grain free, low carb canned food. There are some less expensive ones, I have a long list of grain free foods on my website: http://ibdkitties.net/CommercialFood.html =;

    Love that food list - thanks. Ophelia is sooooo fat and I have struggled to work on her weight - unsuccessfully. I plan on taking that list to the pet shop this week!

    Oh you're very welcome! Please let me know if you have any questions or anything we can help you with in regards to the food. It's very important she lose the weight slowly and naturally. But I guarantee once Ophelia is on the species appropriate diet, she'll feel better, have more energy, and become much healthier and drop the weight the way she should. :D
