Don't see the UPC listed on Purina's Recall list. Not opening anymore cans. They are not getting this brand in the future. BEWARE!! UPC #17800 14613 Manufacturing Code: 11961162 L2DH71704"

    The seal on the can would have to have been compromised for mold to grow. The canning process uses heat that kills off anything alive that may have been inside. This is why canned foods are so shelf-stable. Also, molds are aerobic, meaning that they need oxygen to survive. The person who originally posted this has to be mistaken that the "can had good vacuum," otherwise it's basically impossible for the food to have gotten moldy. Either that, or they're mistaken that what they saw was actually mold. :-k This is definitely a good reminder, though, not to buy cans that are dented and always check the seal before buying ANY canned foods! =;

    I posted it for a friend. Suggested she contact her regional FDA office and they will take it from there.
