Adding a cat to a new lease

When Mom signed the first lease she told the landlords we have one cat, so they put "one cat" in the lease. I asked her if she can talk them into adding another cat in the 12-month renewal. Has anyone else done this and succeeded?

I would think it depends on the landlord. Some only allow one cat. In my case, I am a longtime resident and when I moved in could have up to 3. If I were to transfer to another apartment within the complex, I would only be allowed one, so needless to say I stay where I am. ;)
