Dear Catster reader,

Almost two years ago, we invested numerous resources and rebuilt the Catster community. With new hardware, software and personnel, we did our best to satisfy the many users who shared their thoughts, pictures, questions, and love for and of their pets with us and friends. It was a thriving community with many users. We hoped, however, there would be more like you.

Times and habits have changed and we are sad to announce that the Catster community will be closing down on July 20, 2019.

Catster magazine, and the associated social media sites are NOT shutting down. We encourage you to continue reading the content found in the pages of the magazine and the web sites, commenting through the mechanisms provided and sharing your ideas and comments with us and your fellow readers.

Instructions for accessing pet profiles were shared with everyone in 2017. The instructions can be found elsewhere within the forum. AFTER JULY 20TH, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ACCESS THIS CONTENT. And, effective immediately, we are no longer able to answer questions about the community.

Thank you for your support and we look forward to serving you through our magazine and website.

Slight concern about food change

I recently put my cats back on Wellness, regular Wellness, not the core, and only the turkey, chicken and beef varieties. They had previously been eating Newman's Own Organics, which had quite a bit of brown rice in it, and I felt like the cats were constantly hungry. They are SO much night and day different, as far as being satisfied with being fed twice a day now. My concern is that since the change, they seem to be peeing quite a bit more. I do put warm water in their food when I feed them, I did that before. I have a breeze litter box, so it's pretty easy to gauge how much they are peeing. I just wondered if this seemed concerning, or if I am over reacting, LOL, I tend to do that a lot with my kitties. I'm loving how content they are now, especially Stephano, the kitten, he was absolutely stark raving mad for food before the change, driving us bonkers. Now he is resting comfortably on my laptop as I type this :) No one seems to be running off to the box more, I just notice the volume of pee is more.

I think that with the Wellness being a higher protein food, they are probably getting more water from the food - utilizing it better. If they are all doing that I wouldn't worry. Having a cat with urinary issues, I love to see big pees! mol!
