Fat deposit around the spleen?

My cat had surgery 6 months ago (to remove yarn) and the vet said the tail of his spleen is kind of curled under and there is a large fat deposit around it. Indeed, Dylan is a fairly sleek cat, except for his flabby lower belly pouch. The vet said it was odd, but probably not a problem, but I wonder... is this something I should be concerned about? An indicator of a more serious health problem? He is only 2 years old and otherwise in great health.

Why not ask your vet since they did the surgery and have Dylan's health history.

If your vet said "probably" not a health problem and that is the best answer he offered but you are still unsure, I would take the cat to another vet for a second opinion. They would need copies of your cat's records faxed to them and would then do an exam and suggest any tests that might be needed. I took Kira to a clinic that specializes in cats only when I was not comfortable with my vet's knowledge on her illness and then went to a Specialist for her surgery. It was worth the extra money for the peace of mind in the long run. I still love my own vet and everybody still goes there now that Kira is well again.
