It's very possible from the symptoms you have described, that your kitten has an upper respiratory infection, or "URI". This is common in kittens, but is also the leading cause of death when not treated. You need to visit his vet (you do have one, right?) to have him treated by antibitotic. If not treated, chances are it will get worse until he is so sick he might not be able to be saved.

Go to the vet! URIs can have both viral and bacterial causes, and only your vet can tell for sure. "He opens his mouth like he is choking"--if this were a human child, wouldn't you go to the ER? I recommend going to the vet ASAP--like, tonight (an ER vet) or tomorrow. Kittens are prone to URIs, as they are weaker than adult cats--their immune systems are not as advanced. I don't want to criticize or alarm you, but kittens can go downhill fast. And die. If money is a problem, contact your local shelter or SPCA for a referral to a vet who will either be easy on your finances, or let you pay on the installment plan. Good luck and purrs.
