my cat defecated in my bedroom on spite. What can I do to prevent that?

My cat had me all to her self at home for over a month. When I went back to work, she was alone all day. Today she defecated in my bedroom. Is this on spite? What can I do to prevent this from happening? This was the first time it happened.

More than for "spite", I'll bet your cat was thrown by the change in routine. Cats are truly creatures of habit and don't like their schedules changed in any way. Your kitty was most likely at odds because she was alone after having you by her side for a month. Make sure her litter box is clean and in the same place with the same litter. Try not to change your evening routine with her except for adding a little more playtime or cuddling with her to show her she's still Top Cat to you. If it happens again, you may want to check with your vet to make sure your kitty has no health concerns that may have conincided with your returning to work. If she checks out OK, try placing a litter box in your room and slowly moving it back to where it was before. Cats, like people, occasionally have "accidents", but keep a close eye on her for any other changes in behavior.
