My cat is about 1 1/2 years old. And she has just started to pee on our carpet. Has anybody ever had

She is fixed. I clean the litter box everyday. And like another post, she pee's along the base boards. She does use her litter box to poop. She just pee's on the carpet. I have cleaned it with many things and she keeps doing it. Please HELP!!! I don't want to get rid of her, but if I can't find a solution, I will not have a choice. We live in a apartment!

Even fixed cats will mark. That's what it sounds like she's doing. But, of course you should check with your vet to make sure she doesn't have a urinary infection. Wash along where she pees with an enzymatic cleaner like Nature's Miracle. You need to get rid of the smell. Someone in your building may have gotten a new cat and she's defending her territory. When you take her in for a check, talk to your vet about what else you can do to stop this.

It's common for cats with medical problems to begin eliminating outside of their litter box. For example, a urinary tract infection or crystals in the urine can make urination painful—and both are serious conditions that require medical attention. Cats often associate this pain with the litter box and begin to avoid it. So if your cat has a house-soiling problem, check with your veterinarian first to rule out any medical problems. Cats don't always act sick, even when they are, and only a trip to the veterinarian for a thorough physical examination can rule out a medical problem. If you can rule out a medical problem, you should check out this website for more suggestions on how to solve the problem:
