Is it ok to put baking soday in a litter box?

I've recently started my 16 year old baby back on a litter box ^^ she's doing very well, regardless of the fact she hasn't used it since she was a kitten.. we bought the low powder, and deodorized kind.. but it still smells.. will baking soda help, and would be ok?

Baking soda is fine to sprinkle on your litter to freshen it up. It won't hurt her at all. In fact, back in the day before all the scented litter and stuff you can sprinkle or spray on the litter came out, people used baking soda for that all of the time. It's actually safer than all of the scented junk they sell now....as I am looking at an add for deodorizing spray in the lower right hand corner of my screen.......
