Swollen lip....and spreading to the upper part of the face

We recently adopted a kitten from a rescue and prior to us adopting him he had a swollen lip which they treated with antibotics. He was on more antibotics when we brought him home due to an absyst on his paw. Now that he has been off the antibotics for a week the swelling in his lip has come back and the area outside his eyes is looking a little tender too! Any suggestions?? We have called the rescue and found out that they never even had the vet look at him for the swollen lip while there and they will not help us any more. We are a little short on funds as we just recently adopted this cute kitten and had to buy all the supplies and toys - along with the other vet visits for his paw!! Any help is appreciated!

I know this isn't what you want to hear but he needs to see a veterinarian. It sounds as though you have established a vet already, give him/her a call and describe what is going on with your kitty. You can also let them know that you are short on funds. They may be able to offer you a payment plan. Best of luck!

sounds like a reacourance the swelling could have been caused by a foriegn body and while the anti biotics cleared the infection and brought down the swelling the root cause could still be there. you will have to bring him into the vet as these types of facial swellings can eventualy effect the optic nerve and lead to blindness not to mention the disscomfort he will be in. you already have him with a vet who knows you most vets under these cicumstances if you let the know can be very understanding and allow you to pay it off on a weekly basis wishing you the best of luck will keep you in our thoughts
