Our cat has recently started pooping on our new carpet.

Over the past couple of weeks we've had a party and three different crews to do various things in and around our house, including installing the new carpet. We think it's stress related, maybe due to the changes and all of the people who have been in the house. We haven't seen a vet or anything. She's almost 2 years old, and she always does her business in the same corner. What could we do to get her to start using her litter box more and not going on the floor?

It certainly does sound stress-related, but it's always a good idea to have the vet check her out to make sure it's nothing medical. The vet can also give you some advice on relieving the stress. In the meantime, try putting a litter box in that corner to see if she'll use it there. If she does, then you can very slowly (really - very slowly, like a few inches every couple of days) move it to where you would like it to be. It's recommended that owners provide their cats with more than one box in different locations. Go to catinfo.org and catsinternational.org for more info.
