Dear Catster reader,

Almost two years ago, we invested numerous resources and rebuilt the Catster community. With new hardware, software and personnel, we did our best to satisfy the many users who shared their thoughts, pictures, questions, and love for and of their pets with us and friends. It was a thriving community with many users. We hoped, however, there would be more like you.

Times and habits have changed and we are sad to announce that the Catster community will be closing down on July 20, 2019.

Catster magazine, www.catster.com and the associated social media sites are NOT shutting down. We encourage you to continue reading the content found in the pages of the magazine and the web sites, commenting through the mechanisms provided and sharing your ideas and comments with us and your fellow readers.

Instructions for accessing pet profiles were shared with everyone in 2017. The instructions can be found elsewhere within the forum. AFTER JULY 20TH, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ACCESS THIS CONTENT. And, effective immediately, we are no longer able to answer questions about the community.

Thank you for your support and we look forward to serving you through our magazine and website.

Cheers,
Catster

Homemade Cat Tower

Hi there! I was wondering if anyone has made a homemade cat tower or has a super awesome non-homemade cat tower. I'm going to be making one this week for my two 7 month old kittens. I bought plans on CatTreePlans.com and are combining plans 1 and 2 with additional alterations. My main goal is to make this tree have a 2'x2' base and have it go up to about 6.5' to 7'. To make it sturdy, there will be four posts that go all the way up to the top, supporting all the levels. So yeah, if anyone has some high quality homemade or non-homemade cat towers they have pictures of, post them here! And any helpful hints or tips on how to make a cat tower, putting carpet on it, or really anthing, it's all appreciated to a first time cat owner. Thanks! P.S.-It's even better if you have a tower somewhere around the dimentions that I mentioned.:D

Hey Dash! I don't have a cat tower/tree but I would love to make one on my own! (when you have many pets it's better to make things on your own-saves money! ) I visited the page you mentioned and I like the Plan 4.I'd love to try to build that for my kitties!I've got 5! good luck with the plans!

The human has made one for us. She did buy a couple of very cheap second hand trees (for the base) on Trade me (our version of e bay) and then went to the hardware store. She actually found that they get the wood delivered on logs, which they throw out. They were kind of round and purrrrrrfect for poles for the cat tree, and best of all free. Then you may want to see if any carpet laying places have scraps they just throw out. Which you can wrap around your poles. The human then added planks to the poles and the smaller trees (that she brought on Trade me) and now we have a huge one with heaps of shelves, poles and cubby holes.
