Allergies... cold... pneumonia...

Bear (3 1/2 years old) is suffering from occasional bouts of extreme sneezing. He eats fine, eliminates fine, drinks his water, doesn't scratch himself... in other words, he seems okay. But once in a while, he'll sneeze thirty or more times in a row. Neither of my other cats seem to be having a problem. Any hints or tips?? Much appreciation in advance.

If you're worried then you need to see your vet. This could be some viral infection that needs to run its course. It could be a nasal foreign body (like a plant awn) or it even could be an early sign of a tumor--there's just no way to tell definitively online! Allergic disease typically causes cats to cough rather than sneeze, and pneumonia is usually accompaniied with systemic signs (not eating, lethargy, etc) Please keep in mind that although the health forum is a good place to discuss problems you have a diagnosis for, it doesn't replace veterinary care--no one on earth can tell you what is wrong with your pet without doing an in person examination!

Calamine, one of the other cats in this house, sneezes repeatedly from time to time. It apparently doesn't mean anything at all. Sort of a comment on life.

That's what my bro max the dog does! Does it mean anything?
