Dear Catster reader,

Almost two years ago, we invested numerous resources and rebuilt the Catster community. With new hardware, software and personnel, we did our best to satisfy the many users who shared their thoughts, pictures, questions, and love for and of their pets with us and friends. It was a thriving community with many users. We hoped, however, there would be more like you.

Times and habits have changed and we are sad to announce that the Catster community will be closing down on July 20, 2019.

Catster magazine, www.catster.com and the associated social media sites are NOT shutting down. We encourage you to continue reading the content found in the pages of the magazine and the web sites, commenting through the mechanisms provided and sharing your ideas and comments with us and your fellow readers.

Instructions for accessing pet profiles were shared with everyone in 2017. The instructions can be found elsewhere within the forum. AFTER JULY 20TH, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ACCESS THIS CONTENT. And, effective immediately, we are no longer able to answer questions about the community.

Thank you for your support and we look forward to serving you through our magazine and website.

Cheers,
Catster

Either. If you had asked this question a year or 2 ago, the answer would likely have been dry food. The reasoning was because it helped to scrape the tartar off the teeth. It is now thought that the canned food does not cause more tarter, nor does the dry scrape off the teeth. Canned food has more moisture, which is helpful, especially in male cats where urinary crystals could cause urethral blockages. It also has more meat, which, being carnivores, cats need. The only real down side I can see to feeding the canned food is if kitty ever gets ill, it may be harder to find that "yummy" food to get them interested in eating, because they already get the yummy canned variety, as opposed to the dry food eaters. Make sure whatever food you are feeding is a kitten variety until you are about 1year old.

I would highly recommend: Solid Gold Katz-N-Flocken (that what we eat here mixed w/ CS lite cat food-- www.solidgoldhealth.com and www.chickensoupforthepetloverssoul.com), Royal Canin kitten (www.royalcanin.us), Blue Buffalo Spa Select, Natural Balance, Bil-Jac kitten (www.biljac.com), California Natural and Innova cat (both @ www.naturapet.com). Hope this helps!
