This year, when we go on vacation, we're going to be kenneling our dogs. So our cat George will be all alone except for the guinea pigs which he pays absolutely no attention to. We're going soon so we really can't get a cat but for the future should we??? I don't want him to be absolutely alone for 2 weeks (of course we have someone watching him)

Well, first hopefully the person watching George is also going to be playing with him. Yes, another cat would be company, and that is a good idea. Remember to make sure you get a cat that gets along with dogs, and is comfortable with another cat. PLEASE adopt a shelter cat, PetsMart always has beautiful cats available, and it is noted on the enclosure if they are good with dogs, other cats and/or children.
