Dear Catster reader,

Almost two years ago, we invested numerous resources and rebuilt the Catster community. With new hardware, software and personnel, we did our best to satisfy the many users who shared their thoughts, pictures, questions, and love for and of their pets with us and friends. It was a thriving community with many users. We hoped, however, there would be more like you.

Times and habits have changed and we are sad to announce that the Catster community will be closing down on July 20, 2019.

Catster magazine, and the associated social media sites are NOT shutting down. We encourage you to continue reading the content found in the pages of the magazine and the web sites, commenting through the mechanisms provided and sharing your ideas and comments with us and your fellow readers.

Instructions for accessing pet profiles were shared with everyone in 2017. The instructions can be found elsewhere within the forum. AFTER JULY 20TH, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ACCESS THIS CONTENT. And, effective immediately, we are no longer able to answer questions about the community.

Thank you for your support and we look forward to serving you through our magazine and website.

Experiences with TTouch (TellingtonTouch) for extreme fear?

Has anybody experiences with TTouches for cats? I wonder especially if this could be helpful in the nearly panic moments (hours!) my girl has when she hears fireworks? If so: which touches could you recommend?

Hi there Ishtar! I have never tried the TTouches. Mom and dad got me as a kitten when I was scared of EVERYTHING! Daddy rescued me from a MEAN doggie and I am forever his little girl! there are a few things that you can do that might help you to settle in and not be so paniced. Have a special place that feels SAFE. make sure that your humans spend "quiet time" with you and no other...meaning QUIET time talking softly and lots of petting and just time to feel safe something mommy has done that helps us all is she goes to the Health Food Store and gets something called "Bach Flower Remedies" there is one that helps with anxiety and adjusting to different situations called "RESCUE REMEDY" just put a couple of drops into some wet food and mix it in very well and bring that with you for your quiet time it is very subtle but works to help us anxious kitties very well there are other things like FELIWAY(use the plug in ONLY). if you need more help, just meow! Mommy does that for me when I get scared. She strokes my ears gently with one finger on the outside and the thumb on the inside, gently pulling my ear between them from the base to the tip. She also rubs my fur and skin in a small circle-and-a-half, moves her hand over a little bit, and rubs again. I always start purring right away with this, and sometimes I even fall asleep in the middle of thunderstorms now!
