Feliway should be perfectly safe to use around your kids. I would use a diffuser in each of their rooms. Please also make sure that kitty has a clear path to his litterbox and that it is in a place that the puppy will not bother him. Maybe a baby gate in the doorway that kitty can jump but will keep the puppy out. This does clearly sound behavioral if is started when the puppy arived. But if it continues, please see your vet in case he has developed a UTI or other medical problems. He may have been "holding it" to avoid coming in contact with the puppy and may have caused himself a problem of some sort.

Just to add to Allie's good advice--I got a baby gate with plastic mesh and cut a kitty sized hole in one bottom corner so the cats don't have to jump the gate. All they have to do is pass through the hole. It also keeps the dogs from going on archeological digs in the litter boxes. Make sure no one is hasseling your cats when they use the box. They're telling you something is not going their way by peeing on the beds. And, make sure you wash and bleach the sheets so they won't keep coming back there. (Or close the bedroom doors.)
