The puppy is very sweet and at most has only sniffed the cats and tried to engage the cats in play. At first the cats, kept their distance, then slowly allowed closer distance, but now one cat is taunting him, pouncing on him, and literally attacking him. The dog is such a sweet boy, he just runs away, keeps his distance and doesn't like to go anywhere near the cats, even though he must pass by them to go somewhere.

You brought the dog into your cats terrify so your cat is just being territorial. It should get better

"Guest" is right. The cats are showing the dog whose house it really is. They will work out their own territories. If there is fur flying or blood drawn ,then you need to step in, but other than that, they will work it out by themselves.
