Why do my cats fight, and are they just playing?

 Member Posts: 1
I have a 10 week old male kitten and 6 year old female cat. He loves to play with her, but all she does is growl and sometimes get up and hiss at him...I'm sure they're playing, but they do worry me because I don't want either one of them to get hurt. They seem to be playing pretty rough. Should I be concerned? Should I just let them play it out, or break them up? When the (much bigger) female gets to growling a lot, I usually squirt them with a bottle, is that a bad thing? I brought the kitten home almost 4 weeks ago now...what do you think?

My cats/kittens do that a lot, I don't see anything wrong with that, most of the time mine are just playing. If I see them bitting as in a non- playing way I do break them up. Some of out cats enjoy playing with kittens, but I don't think the squirt bottle is a good thing. (just cause I beleive its mean) If you have any more questions, i'll be happy to answer them!:D hope this helped out some. Mindy
