I agree: a happy kitty. I've never heard of purring loudly being associated with any particular breed, but I know from my own experience that purring habits and purring volume differ with each cat. Spike used to purr loudly until the Maine Coons started coming. He stopped purring for an entire year, and now is purring again. Harvey is a big boy with an inaudible purr. I only know he's purring when I feel his throat or observe his diaphragm moving. Chibi is a new mother, and when she's nursing, her purrs can be heard from across the room. Elise is only 5 months old, and she purrs when you pick her up. Kittens seem to purr more than adult cats--or at least in the case of the cats I've had. Enjoy!
