Is there anything I can do to keep my cat from manifesting symptoms of FIV? 1 yr old just diagnosed.

He came to us, was a stray or dropped off we don't know, and we kept him despite the diagnosis, he seems healthy now. He was living outside in upstate NY, and we brought him to Brooklyn, he'll be inside so he wont infect an other animals. Is there anything to strengthen his immune system that can delay the signs of FIV

You probably know that FIV is incurable. However, cats with FIV can live relatively long lives. This is a diseases that suppresses the immune system, so these cats are highly susceptible to secondary infections of many different types and severities. The best treatment for a cat with FIV is constant vet care. Your cat will need regular blood testing and observation by your vet. Secondary infections can be treated. Develop a trusting relationship with your vet, listen to their advice and follow it to the letter. Your vet will come to know your cat and will be your best source of answers and treatment for this guy. Bless you for taking him in and giving him a loving home!
