Does anyone know of a cat-safe commercial lawn fertilizer?

All of my cats are confined to my side and backyards and they all eat grass. I haven't allowed my mower to ever fertilize those areas because I'm afraid of the chemicals in most fertilizers. Grass is now looking pretty shabby and daily watering isn't helping.

I used an organic composted lawn fertilizer in my back yard for my dog to be safe. It worked really well but doesn't kill weeds. It just fertilized the lawn. It was a little stinky at first but died down quickly. Not like manure stink, just kinds like rotting veggies or something which is basically what it is. But you spread it with a regular lawn spreader. This stuff worked well if you can find it.
