I'm bleeding! What's wrong with my skin?

I've never had skin problems before, but my meowmy has noticed me scratching more than usual. And when she goes into the bathroom, she notices little tiny flecks of blood everywhere on the white tiles, which she assumes is from me scratching myself raw! I'm an indoor cat, so no fleas (she's checked). She brushes me every few days, but I still seem to shed more than I used to, even though my fur appears to be thick and shiny and healthy. I'm eating okay, and my behavior is unchanged. Meowmy can't find any scabs on my skin or any open wounds; the only other thing she's noticed is a lot of dandruff in the brush when she grooms me. She's taking me to a vet soon, but does anyone have any idea of what this might be and how I can be more comfortable in the meantime?

Cats can have a very long list of skin issues, and they can be caused by just about anything, including stress and diet. The sooner she takes you to the vet, the better, if you are scratching that much. She can trim your claws if you'll let her. She can call the vet to see if it would be OK to give you Benadryl, but it's GOT to me at the approval of a vet and at a dosage recommended by them!! She should not try to home-medicate you as that can be very bad.
