Dear Catster reader,

Almost two years ago, we invested numerous resources and rebuilt the Catster community. With new hardware, software and personnel, we did our best to satisfy the many users who shared their thoughts, pictures, questions, and love for and of their pets with us and friends. It was a thriving community with many users. We hoped, however, there would be more like you.

Times and habits have changed and we are sad to announce that the Catster community will be closing down on July 20, 2019.

Catster magazine, www.catster.com and the associated social media sites are NOT shutting down. We encourage you to continue reading the content found in the pages of the magazine and the web sites, commenting through the mechanisms provided and sharing your ideas and comments with us and your fellow readers.

Instructions for accessing pet profiles were shared with everyone in 2017. The instructions can be found elsewhere within the forum. AFTER JULY 20TH, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ACCESS THIS CONTENT. And, effective immediately, we are no longer able to answer questions about the community.

Thank you for your support and we look forward to serving you through our magazine and website.

Cheers,
Catster

What is the deal with this catnip or liquid catnip? I have no interest in toys with it built in, and they don't sell it at the Walmart or anything near me, and I wont support the petstores that encourage mills... Why do u guys love it? And I started to refuse treats. I dont like catgrass, except to throw the earth around the apartment (and I dont touch the other 30+ plants in this tiny place)... any one have any suggestions to whats the deal with this catnip?? :)

Lucy - not sure what your question is. Is it that you're not interested in catnip? There are a lot of kitties (myself included) who are immune to it. The most I've ever done is drool around it, and that was when it was very fresh. Sometimes I wish I could get stoned on it, but I guess it's just genetics.

Hello! Tell your mom to keep trying with different brands if she can. It took me over 1 year to show any interest and now I act a s dumb as my brothers do on it!! Good luck!

Meows, some cats are just not affected by catnip. Other cats have less of a response to catnip as they grow older. Mol, I like to push my cat grass pot around too and make a big mess. Perhaps instead of store bought treats your Human can give you small pieces of cooked chicken. I love cooked chicken.

Catnip rules! I eat it, sniff it, rub myself in it, drag my toys through it... that stuff is just awesome! My little brother loves it too... he's really funny though, cause he's very clumsy and just falls all over the place. My Mommy also gave us some honeysuckle wood pieces, a stick and two disks, and we just love that too! We drool all over it, chew on it and maul it with our paws! Maybe you should try honeysuckle?

We read that a cat\'s brain can handle about 30 min. of stimulus from catnip, then shuts off. I guess cats have better biological defenses against addiction than people! Most of us like it. Mom fills an old sock with it, and Jack drags it all over the house. Zack acts like a kitten! But if you don\'t care for it. then thats OK too.
