Does anyone have suggestions to help a cat who seems to hear too well? She gets very skittish when even hearing sounds from outside. I feel bad, even the sound of knocking on a door from the television makes her look around for a place to hide. I joke, “she has bionic hearing.”

A little more about my pets:
She doesn’t meow, loves playing in water, suddenly kneading me, VERY skittish & almost has “bionic” hearing.

Activity

  • Just curious, my cat meows less than 5 times a week, but she climbs onto me & makes 3 “chuffing” sounds. She’s happy, sometimes even starts kneading while making her “happy chuff/puff” sound. Anyone else know what to call this - and no, she isn’t sick.

I think I read that when a cat kneads it feels very comfortable and safe with you. As for the meows, just be lucky she doesn't me like the house cat we have at my workplace. He is sooo loud, and he will do so in the wee hours of the night. lol

I have 2 of my cats that talk a lot, with other cats, with us humans, sometimes alone. Three more of my cats talk a lot less, sometimes when they are hungry, sometimes between them, but much less. It is normal, they are like us: some are more talkative, some less. Lol

I wouldn't worry too much. Every cat has it's own personality. Some are shy, some aren't, just like some dogs, I had 3 Shiba Inu , 1 was very friendly, 1 was very nervous around strangers, and 1 was reserved. The one that was nervous also had anxiety attacks when my cell phone would beep (needing to be charged).

Little things like uploading a profile picture make the community a better place. Thanks!
